How to Receive from God

Hebrews 10:36 “For you have need of patience, that after you have done the will of God, you shall receive the promise.”

Hebrews tells us how to receive from God. What is it that you want to receive from God? Does it seem like it is taking too long? The key word in this verse is “promise. God has made us a promise that we can receive. But only “after you have done the will of God.“  You see, the patience is in doing the will of God.

Sometimes in doing the will of God, it is not always comfortable. It’s kind of like exercising to get into shape. You start out, and you feel good about the decision to get physically fit, you see a little results and get excited about that. Then it seems like you can’t get any further. This is when you need to exercise your patience to continue exercising until the results show. We must continue to do the will of God until the promise shows up.

With every situation we face and with everything we seek or desire, God has His perfect will in mind for us. Ask Him what His will is for our situation and do it completely. After you do, you will receive the promise.

God has given many of us dreams and ideas and a few specific things to do relating to those ideas but perhaps they were overlooked. God may have given you an idea that you don’t completely have all the knowledge of how to implement but there are a few things relating to that idea that you do know how to do. Do what you know.

Your patience is in exercising all you know to do relative to what God has instructed you to do. There are times we may not know if God is speaking to us, however there are times when He places something on us so strong that we can’t help but to know it’s God. God is always talking to us, wanting to lead us and show us things. Purpose to pay attention so you can hear him all the time. Ask Him even in the little things so He can direct you. You get a peace with God’s prompting and when you make a decision according to His will.

God’s Will

People say “If it’s God’s will, I will have it.” Contrary to popular belief, God’s will is only God’s will as it relates to right and wrong which He has already declared in the Bible. If it is good, then God wants you to have it. This is “God’s will.”  If it is evil or a bad report, then He does not want you to have it. This is not the will of God.

Even being rich, He wants us all wealthy because there are plenty of resources which He provided. His will for you to be rich would involve what He specifically would have you to do to gain your wealth. He never wants evil, sickness, untimely death or poverty for anyone. God’s will is our will, because he gives us free will to make decisions for ourselves good or bad. Satan is the author of everything evil. He is an influencer. If he can influence you away from the will of God, then he will. God’s will involves specific instructions relative to whatever we are going through. So when we need answers or solutions we must go to Him and ask Him what we should do about it.  The answer we get then is “God’s will.”

What is the will of God for your situation? Ask Him. He will tell you or show you.  Then have the faith to do what He tells you. Hebrews 10:35 tells us to have confidence in God because there is reward for our confidence. The confidence is our faith. God rewards faith.
